Money Doesn't Grow on Billionaires…
…And Other True Tales From Modern Monetary Theory.
The Australian Government's capacity to act in response to our era's many pressing problems is much greater than is commonly supposed, as consequently is it's moral obligation to do so. This course explains why this is the case, how this capacity might be exercised, and why we've been getting things so terribly wrong for so long.
This engaging and approachable course for the intelligent layperson (as found on the Clapham omnibus) is structured in three sections:
- Core MMT: "The Money Story", "The Financial Sector", and "The Job Guarantee".
- Public Goods: "Universal Public Services", "The Housing Guarantee", and "The Grocery Guarantee".
- Further Adventures: "Debunking Utopian Economics", plus elective topics as nominated by the class.
Prior formal instruction in conventional economics is generally a disadvantage, but not an insurmountable one. Course facilitator Katy Swain is a Masters' student in the Economics of Sustainability program developed by Modern Money Lab and delivered in partnership with Torrens University, as well as a co-founder of the Public Money. Public Good. advocacy group, a regular contributor to 3CR's RadioMMT and an eccentric autodidact of many decades standing.
